Health and fitness Friday

I just don't know why I started health and fitness Friday a week ago. Blah, blah, blah. But I started it, so here goes.

The picture? Those are the containers of fresh fruit I buy about twice a week in order to keep my babies, husband, and myself healthy.

Check out the price, if you can see it? $6.39. Some are a little more, some a little less.

I question the fairness of such expensive health food. How are low-income families expected to supply a healthy diet to their families?

I know there are cheaper health alternatives, like buying the fruit whole and slicing it yourself, or buying canned or frozen. But still, it just doesn't seem right somehow.

I have now climbed down off my soapbox, thank you very much.

As far as the fitness part, I think I need to start playing tennis again. Patty and I played once a week a couple years ago. She beat me every time, so she probably would prefer a more challenging opponent, but I'm up for having my booty handed to me on a racket again if she is.

Enjoy your weekend--peace out.
*btw-does anyone say "peace out" anymore?

  1. Marci ~ once a year, when the pickin's good, we pick BUCKETS of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries from farms all over our county. (yes, the kids eat a LOT of them right out of the bucket. ok, so do I) but I also make jam and freeze most of them. Freeze as you want them when they're thawed (because cutting will be difficult), so throw 1,2 or 3 cups of berries ~ whole, sliced, etc. (whatever your fancy) into a bowl the night before. The kids will have berries for cereal in the morning and you can kiss the toaster- strudel-frosting-mess goodbye! oh, and you can stop paying over six bucks for a cup of them ~ that's insane!! Lisa
